I’m an independent journalist who covers new scientific research on natural history, paleontology, and environmental science for a variety of national and international publications, and I’m well regarded for my coverage of GLP-1 medications.

My writing is regularly published in The New York Times, Scientific American, National Geographic, Discover Magazine, New Scientist, Science News, Medscape, and many others.

Before that I worked for The Charleston Post and Courier as an associate editor where I edited and reported on parenting and science stories. I was also a columnist for the Discovery Channel.

I have a master’s degree in science writing from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia.
